Maud Cohen, President and Chief Executive Officer of the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation, has announced she will be stepping down from her position on March 31, 2022, after more than seven years at the head of the organization. The Board of Directors is therefore initiating its succession plan, under which Delphine Brodeur, Executive Vice-President, will take over the role effective April 1, 2022.
Maud made the move into the world of philanthropy in 2014, when she joined the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation as President and CEO, after nearly 15 years in a series of executive positions. She arrived just as the Healing More Better campaign was coming into the home stretch, eventually exceeding its initial target by more than $100 million. In the years since, Maud has guided the Foundation through a period of continuous growth, firmly in lockstep with Sainte-Justine’s ambitions.
Maud has leveraged her leadership, determination, diligence and vision to fundamentally transform the Foundation. She has succeeded in professionalizing the practices within our organization and, by extension, throughout the entire philanthropic community. Her impact extends far beyond the Foundation.
The succession process that has been carefully planned out by the Board will enable the Foundation to continue along its trajectory and take things to the next level under Delphine’s leadership.
Although the decision to move on is an extremely difficult one from a professional point of view, the timing seems right. The organization is in great shape, backed by a team that is stronger and more engaged than ever. It is time to pass the torch over to them. Rest assured they are ready, willing and able to take on the major challenges ahead.”
Over the years, Delphine has made her mark with her strategic mindset and forward-looking vision with regard to the organization’s positioning. After spearheading an extensive rebranding operation in 2018, she set out to rethink and revamp the donor experience, featuring a more streamlined journey and a focus on new digital initiatives. She recently broadened this approach in her role as Executive Vice-President to include all of the Foundation’s activities. Effective immediately and for the duration of the transition, she will serve as Deputy CEO.
Working for such an important cause, alongside a compassionate group of donors, partners and volunteers, is a great honour. With their support, and the support of the driven, dedicated group of professionals at the Foundation, we will maintain this momentum to empower Sainte-Justine to achieve even its most ambitious goals. Philanthropy plays a crucial role in addressing the tremendous needs that go hand in hand with the advances being made right now on all fronts. The challenge moving forward may be a daunting one, but it is one I welcome with passion, enthusiasm and conviction.
