New hope for children suffering from heart defects
On February 27, Canadian Pacific’s President and CEO visited the CHU Sainte-Justine to make a generous $1 million donation in support of children’s cardiovascular health.
This extraordinary gift represents a major commitment from Canadian Pacific towards the fundamental research being conducted at the CHU Sainte-Justine. The funds will be used to create Quebec’s first research platform on stem cells and pediatric regenerative medicine.
The CHU Sainte-Justine will be able to acquire new equipment and recruit a new researcher, which will significantly accelerate the pace of research to help children with complex congenital heart malformations, and more specifically, will aid in identifying the mechanisms that form the heart as well as interventions that can stop the progression of heart disease in children.
Thank you, Canadian Pacific!
With the knowledge that every year in Canada, one in 80 children will be diagnosed with a congenital heart defect and the fact that no treatment currently exists to repair the heart permanently, the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation is very grateful to Canadian Pacific for this opportunity to pave the way for revolutionary new treatments for our children.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, Canadian Pacific!
