Even in the midst of a pandemic, families are still being told their child has cancer, babies are coming into the world far too soon and young accident victims are being rushed to the emergency room. Ten-month-old Thomas, who has a condition known as biliary atresia, has been an inpatient at Sainte-Justine since February. For him and others like him, please join the #GivingTuesdayNow movement on May 5.

Thomas was born with a condition that prevents his liver from secreting bile. Known as biliary atresia, the disease affects one out of five children in Quebec. He is currently waiting for the liver transplant that will save his life – and time is running out. He needs treatment as quickly as possible.

COVID-19 notwithstanding, this is no time for priority care and research at Sainte-Justine to slow down. This Tuesday is an opportunity to step up and protect the flagship pediatric institution that is CHU Sainte-Justine and its affiliated research centre.

Make this Tuesday a very special day for Sainte-Justine!

For #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving and unity in response to the current crisis, the members of the Foundation’s Board of Directors are asking you to step up for Sainte-Justine and maximize your impact. If you become a monthly donor between now and midnight, they will support your generosity by matching your first 12 monthly payments, dollar for dollar.

♥ Donate

Why give monthly?

Opting for monthly donations has always been the best way to support Sainte-Justine.

♥ Affordable and flexible:

You will be helping to maintain a regular, reliable source of income for Sainte-Justine to ensure young patients have access to state-of-the-art care, no matter what. This option lets you spread your donation out over the year – and you can change, suspend or cancel it at any time.

♥ Environmentally friendly and efficient:

You’ll receive one tax receipt for your total annual donations in February of the following year – which means a smaller carbon footprint and a reduced cost for the Foundation.

Protecting Sainte-Justine’s status as a leader in pediatric medicine and research

Sainte-Justine is the province’s only liver transplant centre and it has earned an international reputation for excellence. Its expertise in terms of patient care and research is comparable to that of some of the world’s top hospitals.

The research teams at Sainte-Justine hope that cutting-edge cell therapy technology will one day replace organ transplants in treating liver disease in children like Thomas. With your ongoing support, they will make it happen.

It’s so hard to be living in limbo like this. But at Sainte‑Justine, we know they’ve got our backs. We’re in the best place we can be. And having the support of a whole community is very reassuring.

Together, let’s make sure Sainte-Justine and its affiliated research centre continue to lead the way in pediatric medicine.

Thank you for making Giving Tuesday Now a day to remember by becoming a monthly donor today.
