Guy A Lepage and his Wife Mélanie, Discover the Behind-the-Scenes of Sainte-Justine

They became acquainted with Sainte-Justine in 2016, as the parents of a sick child. On September 4, they discovered what happens behind the scenes that makes everything possible.

In December 2016, their 2-year-old son Thomas was admitted to Sainte-Justine’s emergency room in a serious state. The diagnosis was severe cellulitis of the toe. Six months later, he was hospitalized a second time with Kawasaki disease. Both times, thanks to Sainte-Justine, Thomas made a full recovery. Guy came out of the experience shaken. He felt indebted and deeply grateful to Sainte-Justine’s teams. When we approached him to become an ambassador for the cause, he did not hesitate for a moment: his answer was an emphatic yes!

Our son is alive and healthy thanks to the medical staff at the CHU Sainte-Justine. Our gratitude and respect for these teams know no bounds

Before the announcement of our partnership, he wanted to see the other side of Sainte-Justine: the behind-the-scenes that makes everything possible. On September 4, accompanied by the medical teams, Guy and his wife, Mélanie, visited the emergency room, microbiology laboratories and intensive care units. The visit stirred up many emotions, and the couple was also able to see some of the caregivers who had left such a lasting impression on them.

What struck us on both occasions Thomas was hospitalized was the teamwork, the absence of ego. Everyone works together to the best of their ability to provide the best possible care for the child. It makes all the difference

Those two hours spent at Sainte-Justine allowed them to appreciate the excellence and passion of the teams from another perspective. They understood how the hospital centre that changed their lives is much more than a hospital.
