The Foundation strongly encourages donations without designation. You can, however, earmark your donation for one of Sainte-Justine’s three overarching missions—research, care, and teaching—or for a specific unit, department, or initiative, as long as your gift is allocated to one of the Foundation’s existing designations, in accordance with the Gift Acceptance Policy. Any other designation will require validation. This will only be possible for donations of at least $10,000.
The Foundation will deduct a fee corresponding to 10% of each designated donation, up to a maximum of $250,000. This fee will give the Foundation the flexibility to respond to CHU Sainte-Justine’s urgent and priority needs, seize opportunities for innovation, and support the Foundation’s fundraising activities.
It is understood that the priorities and needs of the Foundation and CHU Sainte-Justine may shift, notably as a result of scientific advances or organizational changes. Should such a shift occur, the Foundation and CHU Sainte-Justine stakeholders may jointly determine that the use of a donation in accordance with its designation has become inappropriate, unrealistic, impossible, or null and void. If the Foundation determines that a revised designation is warranted, it may allocate some or all of the donation for other purposes, provided that these reflect the substance of the donor’s original intent wherever possible, following consultation with the donor.
