Montreal, November 1, 2023 — Between November 1 and 26, the students and staff members of private schools across Quebec will pool their efforts to illuminate the base of the Sainte-Justine Tree of Lights in advance of the main campaign that will light up this giant symbol of hope to the very top. Students in the schools belonging to the Fédération des établissements d’enseignement privés (FEEP) will reach out to family and friends online to invite them to sponsor lights on the Tree at $5 apiece in a show of support for the young patients, families and healthcare professionals who will be spending the holidays at Sainte-Justine this year.

Together, their goal is to make the first 140,000 lights on the Tree shine bright and raise $700,000 for state-of-the-art pediatric care, research and teaching at Sainte-Justine. The results of these efforts will be unveiled at the kickoff of the main Tree of Lights campaign on November 26, with the base of the Tree glowing to reflect these young philanthropists’ achievement.

A healthier future for children and families, thanks to the FEEP

“When youth step up to help youth, it’s amazing what they can accomplish. Teens dream big and act boldly. Their open hearts and curious minds know no bounds. Like them, the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation sees beyond the impossible to redefine what’s possible,” said Delphine Brodeur, President and CEO of the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation. “For 15 years now, private schools and students in Quebec have contributed to a number of endeavours in support of the families of Sainte-Justine and done their part to ensure they have access to the best health care in the world.”

Inspired by the incredible response and the $2 million raised in the first three years, the Sainte-Justine Youth Tree of Lights campaign is inviting private schools in Quebec to dream bigger still. The touching stories of ambassadors Anne-Marie, Elizabeth, Ethan, Roméo and Victoria will be the ones featured during this fourth annual campaign.
